About Sinclair House

Hello! I'm Henry, a caffeine-fuelled, book-loving, and increasingly introverted book editor.

My childhood love for books has defined the adult I am today. I believe well-crafted stories have a great power that is all their own: to convey love, hope, change, and to show us what it means to be human. It’s this philosophy that drives my passion for editing, as I assist great stories to become their very best before they are sent out into the world.

I am a fantasy and sci-fi tragic—they aren't genres I merely dabble in! I’m a life-long veracious reader with a deep love for fantastical and whimsical stories.

So what does that all mean for you as an author?

It means that your manuscript would be in the enthusiastic hands of someone who wants your story to succeed; someone who understands the genre inside and out, and who can identify tropes, pitfalls, and genre expectations at the drop of a hat; and most of all, someone who will attach themselves to your world and champion your story just as strongly as you do. So, whether you're a writer seeking a new friend in their editor or just want a warm, professional editing experience, you've found your literary comrade in me. Let's embark on a fantastical adventure together, one word at a time!

If you were going to entrust someone with your manuscript, you’d want to know more about them, right? Right!

Frodo has Sting, Arya has Needle, and Percy has Riptide. Me? I’m armed with a postgraduate degree in Writing, Editing, and Publishing.

While telling stories has never required qualifications, you can trust in me to have your back. I’m also a budding author myself, so I’m familiar with the trials and tribulations of forging one’s own novel.
For funsies, I also have a Bachelor of Music—maybe I can compose your novel’s soundtrack…

What I’m Listening To:

My Bookstagram: @book.frenzy

At home: sipping a cup of Darjeeling, curled up on my big comfy armchair, reading a book; or, sat at my lovely home office desk, tip-tap typing away on an editing job or my own work.

At my local bookstores: Dymocks, Pulp Fiction (an independent SFF/crime bookstore), and Archives (a beautiful secondhand bookstore).

At my government job: Cup of coffee in hand. Complaint regarding the state of the world on my lips.

Where You’ll Find Me:

  • A personal library truly is the window to the soul. Discover the books I wish I could forget, only to them read again for the first time: Henry’s Favourite Books

  • Favourite story flavours: political, cozy, whimsical, philosophical, ancient, and character-driven.

  • If I’m reading, writing, or editing a book, you’ll find me with a beverage in hand. I have a deep love for floral black teas, pure black coffee, and robust red wines.

My Literary Taste:

  • Move to Europe (sorry, Australia—not my cup of tea).

  • Study something purely for fun: history, art history, classics, literature, philosophy. Bonus points if I have a beautiful city to do it in (looking at you Oxford and Edinburgh).

  • Retreat into a forest; live in small house in said forest; become forest witch; frighten local villagers.

My Bucket List:

Ready to elevate your story?
